We would love to invite you to join us for our 11th Annual Home Seminar team taught by Judy Diephouse and Lynne Deptula!

Our seminar piece this year is the custom designed Still Life & Floral Storage Stool,  exclusive to Distinctive Brushstrokes. The counter stool features a variety of still life and floral elements that will surely become a treasured keepsake for you and your family! The counter stool measures 30" tall and features  two storage compartments. The seat measures 15" in diameter. The base of the stool is 15" square, tapering up into the seat. The price for the Counter Stool is $138.00 which includes all hardware.

Seminar Features

You will receive a complete painting pattern with multiple photographs for the seminar project. Paints will be provided by DecoArt Americana. We will have some specialty brushes available for sale, but would like you to bring your favorite painting brushes and supplies to class.

The surface for the class will be purchased from Distinctive Brushstrokes, but please feel free to bring in additional surfaces of your choice if you are an energetic painter.

For the seminar, we will be using the video monitor system. Our ladies LOVE it...up close viewing for everyone. Every seat is a great seat and this system makes for a very enjoyable, relaxed and educational experience.

Then there's the food...each seminar day will include a mid-morning snack break, delightful lunch prepared by Lynne and Judy, a mid-afternoon pick-me-up with our fabulous Snack Fairy Terri, plus a selection of beverage choices throughout the day. The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast.  You will be responsible for your own dinner, but we do arrange a group reservation for our ladies if you wish to join us. We have two terrific husbands and several generous friends who have offered their transportation services to our painting friends!

Prep Night Party

October 13, Thursday 6:00p.m.- 9:00p.m.  

The weekend will begin with a 'Prep Night' on Thursday, when you will basecoat your project, transfer your pattern and join all of your painting friends for a Wine and Appetizer Party!

Still Life & Floral Storage Stool Seminar

October 14-16, Friday thru Sunday 9:00a.m.- 5:00p.m.

This three day project offers still life and floral elements, just a touch of strokework, and a pottery [not real] bird for you to enjoy painting. Judy and Lynne will guide you from structured still life painting to casual floral painting...all the while teaching you with precise instruction and a lot of fun!

Seminar Housing

We will be teaching our seminar at the Holiday Inn Express. The hotel is located at 5401 28th Street Ct. S.E., Grand Rapids , MI. Telephone: 616-940-8100. We have reserved a block of rooms for the seminar so please mention Distinctive Brushstrokes to receive the Seminar pricing. We will be holding the seminar in the 3rd floor Meeting Room. Although the hotel is not that large, you may want to request the third floor for you room to accommodate your after dinner painting. If you are flying in, Holiday Inn Express does offer a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport which is only 5-10 minutes from the hotel.  Directly across the parking lot from the Holiday Inn Express is a Country Inn and Suites Hotel, Telephone: 616-977-0909. Both are very nice and include a complimentary breakfast. The cost of a hotel room for 2 people ranges from $69.00 to $120.00 per night. Hotel costs are not included in the Seminar Fee.

Seminar Fee

The seminar fee is $240.00 for the full 3 day seminar. Please sign up early as our one seminar this year will be limited to 44 students and advertised shortly on our website and at the SDP National Convention in Mid May.
